Learning 2.0 and Learning Organisation 2.0

I have just been a part of the most amazing trainers meetings at ICA. We discussed a whole new concept in learning, that is impacting on all of us – it is called . Learning 2.0. It is a ‘blue print’ for the future of learning. ICA is totally aligned with the Learning Organisation 2.0.

Karen Cappello, attended a webinar yesterday with over 300 CLOs from around the world. At the webinar they went through and outlined what learning 2.0 is, and how a learning organisation 2.0 will look. During the call, participants were surveyed with regard to their organization and how they relate to Learning 2.0 mode. Each time they discussed a concept of learning 2.0 they surveyed each person on the call to see if their organisation was operating in the Learning 2.0 mode. At the end of the call ICA was amongst only 20% of the other companies on the call who are totally embracing Learning 2.0.

But what does this mean to coaches and businesses?

What this means is that businesses that embrace the this new evolution of learning will be the ones that recognise coaching as the key to bringing about a Learning Organisation 2.0. Coaching is one of the key tools in this new evolution. In Learning 2.0 we will be moving from a notion of adult teaching to participation, from training programs to making knowledge searchable, from formal events to enabling knowledge exchange and from most learning being done by instructors to most learning occurring from our peers. Training will not be delivered but rather enabled and blended learning models will move towards embedded learning.

Learning 2.0 is a shift towards a greater focus on the learning, on the building of knowledge and on the freeing up of formalities.
Certification and compliance will still be relevant. New technologies will be embraced - wikis, blogs, podcasts.

So you can see why I am so excited:

  1. to share in the evolution from Learning 1.0 to Learning 2.0
  2. to know that ICA is already operating as a learning organisation 2.0
