ICA participates in “Gateway to Greater China: All you Need to Know About Exporting”
Robyn Logan, Strategy Director at International Coach Academy, participated in a panel of industry speakers representing businesses exporting into China. The panel was hosted by BSI in cooperation with Austrade and explored the various issues around doing business in China.

The panelists first talked about what had made them consider doing business in Greater China. They then went on to discuss the range of issues to be considered and the various do’s and dont’s for successful business relationships with Chinese people. Key points raised were:
to fully understand your type of product and industry and to appreciate that China is not one large market, but is made up of many markets.
to invest the time and resources in finding the “right” business partners or staff
to understand that much of your success will be directly related to the quality of your relationships
to be aware of cultural differences such as the importance of ’saving face’” (and equally, ‘giving face’)
to have a strategy around intellectual property and to be aware that this is a cultural concept
to always meet with the decision-maker, to ease the discussion and agreement of price and terms associated with the business venture.
